DNR Land Exchange

Our Community Proposal to exclude portions of S-31 from the South Stevens Land Exchange was endorsed by the Sierra Club and forwarded to DNR Commissioner Sutherland in March.   I also sent a copy to our elected officials and to the Governor. Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife also asked DNR to exclude S-31 from the exchange. On October 23rd I received a letter from Commissioner Sutherland stating that he had heard our concerns and has directed that 40 acres on the north side of S-31 be temporarily excluded from the exchange in order to give the County a chance to acquire (purchase) the land for open space and/or parks. He gives us our marching orders in the last paragraph.  Please see the following documents for details: (documents will open in a new window or tab)
